Robert Eugene Hill's Obituary
Robert Eugene Hill, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away on March 21, 2024, in Dallas, TX, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on January 26, 1932, in Houston, TX, to Burnis Eugene Hill and Catherine Toffier Alleman.
Robert, known to his friends and family as Bob, lived a life filled with love, laughter, and cherished moments. He was a man of simple pleasures, finding joy in fly fishing and riding his horse. He was an avid reader, as well as a Texas Rangers baseball fan. These passions allowed him to connect with nature and find peace in the serene beauty of the outdoors. Bob will be remembered for his kind and gentle spirit, his unwavering love for his family, and his dedication to those he held dear. His presence will be deeply missed, but his legacy of love and compassion will continue to inspire all who were fortunate enough to have known him.
On June 6, 1981, Bob married the love of his life, Dana Moss, at Wilshire Baptist Church. Together, they built a life full of love and shared experiences, creating a strong and enduring bond that served as a source of strength and comfort throughout their lives. They are former members and Elders at First Christian Church, Richardson, TX.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents, Burnis Eugene Hill and Catherine Toffier Alleman, as well as his son, Robert Patton "Bobby" Hill, and grandson, Jonathan Steere.
He is survived by his devoted spouse, Dana Hill, his daughters Catherine "Cathy" Phillips (Scott), Cynthia "Cindy" Warren (John), Carolyn Steere (Ken), Julie Clark (Paul), his stepdaughter Gina Ritter Burchfiel (John), and stepson Chris Ritter (Jill). Bob's legacy continues through his beloved grandchildren Greg Wales, Jennifer Varela (Fernando), Aria James, Hillary Steere, Rachel Coats, Taylor Freeman, Trey Freeman, Jack Ritter, and Alex Ritter, as well as his great-grandchildren Avery Varela, Aidan Varela, Stella Morton, and Aubrey Wales.
The family wishes to thank his supportive and gentle caregivers Maya, Janet, Nia, Oprah, Talla, and Andrew for their care during these past months.
Family and friends are invited to pay their respects at the visitation, which will be held on Wednesday, March 27, 2024, from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Restland Funeral Home, located at 13005 Greenville Ave., Dallas, TX 75243. A graveside service will follow on Thursday, March 28, 2024, beginning at 1 PM at Restland Memorial Park in the Garden of Veterans II.
Donations may be made towards a Memorial Tree offering when you visit Restland's Sympathy Store, where a tree will be planted at any National Forest where it is needed. Alternatively, please also consider donations to T. Boone Pickens Center/Faith Presbyterian Hospice in Bob's name or any other charities of your choice.
