Robert Roy Hodges' Obituary
Our family lost a great man this past Sunday, Robert Roy “Papa” (Bobby) Hodges went to be with the Lord at 4:55 PM on June 5, 2016. He was surrounded by his beautiful wife Linda and many family members and friends that loved him deeply. Bob had a love for life that was contagious and inspiring. He was a thoughtful, generous and caring Christian man who never quit and remained positive and grounded in his faith throughout his courageous battle. His wisdom and guidance will be remembered and used by many for years to come. The love he had for his granddaughters, Ashley and Heather, was so unconditional and pure I know they will truly miss their Papa. As most of you know, Bob had fought an 8 year battle with colon cancer that had metastasized to his lungs. He endured 3 long years of continuous chemotherapy and many other treatments and did so bravely. Linda never left his side and is an amazing and loving wife, mother, sister, grandmother, aunt, friend, and caretaker. She needs our prayers for healing and strength as she provided round the clock care for him until death parted them, as she promised to do over 50 years ago. Although our hearts are deeply saddened by this loss, we rejoice in knowing that he is with Jesus and is no longer suffering. And we know that we will see him again. John 14:1-4 “Let not your hearts be troubled. Believe in God; believe also in me. In my Father’s house are many rooms. If it were not so, would I have told you that I go to prepare a place for you? And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and will take you to myself, that where I am you may be also. And you know the way to where I am going.” Family will receive friends an hour prior to the service on Thursday, June 9th. Service will be held on Thursday, June 9, 2016 at 1 PM in The Memorial Chapel at Restland Funeral Home. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Restland Funeral Home and Memorial Park, 13005 Greenville Avenue, Dallas, TX 75243.
