Mr. Robert L Laughlin's Obituary
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Robert L. Laughlin of Dallas, Texas, on March 23, 2023 at the age of 82.
Bob was born on July 18, 1940 in Goldthwaite, Texas, to J.W. and Elaine Laughlin. He was raised in Goldthwaite, graduated from Goldthwaite High School in 1958 as Valedictorian, and went on to graduate with a Bachelor of Science in Mathematical and Actuarial Sciences from The University of Texas at Austin in 1963. He pursued a career as a Consulting Actuary at Watson Wyatt Worldwide for 32 years, where he excelled and made significant global contributions in the actuarial industry, he retired at age 56. He served his country as a member of the United States Marine Reserves from 1962-1972.
Bob was a kind, caring, and loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend. He had a wonderfully dry sense of humor and always offered up some of the worst and most hilarious dad jokes known to man. He had a passion for golf, was a master stamp collector, a hobby that spanned 75 years, and he was a loyal fan of his beloved Longhorns. He loved spending time with his family and friends and never missed an event, game or theatre production for his children or grandchildren, always there, present and very proud.
Bob is preceded in death by his parents, his brother Bill Laughlin, his daughter Michele LeBlanc, two granddaughters, Alison LeBlanc and Ashlyn LeBlanc, and his nephew Joel Laughlin.
He is survived by his adoring wife of 36 years, Holly M. Laughlin, his loving sons Greg Laughlin, Michael Laughlin and his wife Amy, Jay Pippen and his wife Sandy, daughter Hillary Boswell and her husband Richard, son-in-law Kelly LeBlanc, brother Ron Laughlin and his wife Jan, sister-in-law Donna Laughlin, 14 grandchildren Joshua LeBlanc, Jeremy LeBlanc, Morgan Laughlin, Kori Laughlin, Sage Cleveland, Annabel Olp, Ashley Smith, Dylan Pippen, Jake Pippen, Ava Boswell, Sloane Boswell, DJ Donham, Raystlyn Cordell, Anna Morris, nephew Eric Laughlin and his wife Kelly, nieces Tracey Villarreal and her husband Pat, Melanie Stephens and her husband Brad and his seven great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, April 29, 2023 at 2 pm at Restland Funeral Home, 13005 Greenville Avenue, Dallas, Texas. The family would like to extend their sincere gratitude to all those who have shown their love and support during this difficult time.
