Robert Vernon Lentz's Obituary
LENTZ, ROBERT VERNON passed away March 9, 2013. Bob was born Nov. 25, 1926 to Rex & Alta Lentz. He came to Dallas in 1929. Bob graduated from Woodrow Wilson H.S. participating in track. He served in the U.S. Air Force. After his service he attended the Univ. of Alabama, Texas A&M and SMU. Bob founded the Phi Gamma Delta fraternity at SMU as a charter member. In 1949 he married Eloise H. Lentz and had (3) children Madelyn, Richard & Paul. He worked for Jas. K. Wilson clothiers. He was President of Southland Supply Co., Inc. until 1970. He then started a manufacturer’s rep. firm Robert V. Lentz, Inc. He later became a remodeling contractor specializing in industrial/hospital or high-end kitchen and baths. He was affiliated with several industry/professional associations including ASHRAE. Bob served on various boards for the the City of University Park. In 1953 he became a member of The Salesmanship Club of Dallas. His involvement became one of the great loves of his life in providing a better future for children’s growth. He was a member of Northwood C.C. for many years enjoying golf, cards & fellowship. He is survived by his wife of 35 years Joyce C. Lentz, his (3) children, numerous stepchildren, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Pallbearers: Tom Abbott, Warren Gravely, Mike McKinley & Mac Wesson. Memorial service will be held at Restland Memorial Chapel Wed. March 13, 2013 @ 11:00 A.M. Visitation with family will precede the service@ 10:00 A.M. in lieu of flowers please make any donations to The Salesmanship Club of Dallas.
