Dr. Robert Lee Martin Jr's Obituary
On September 1, 1951, Robert Lee Martin, Jr was born to the union of Lula Mae Martin
and Robert L. Martin, Sr in Memphis, Tennessee. Their only child, Robert was doted upon and provided opportunities that would change his life and the lives of those around him for years to come. Robert was born to hardworking parents and knew the value of an education and investing in oneself to obtain seemingly impossible goals. Because opportunities in Memphis did not come in abundance, Robert knew early on he had to work above and beyond to build a legacy he could be proud of.
Robert graduated high school at the top of his class and went on to attend Brown
University as a result of his diligence. While attending Brown was an accomplishment within itself, Robert would not stop there. He decided to pursue medicine at the University of Tennessee after which he enlisted in the military as a Senior Assistant Surgeon for the US Army. Dr. Martin would spend the next 45 years practicing medicine and advocating for his patients in the process. Robert operated his private practice out of the Medical City of Dallas Hospital where he remained until his retirement in 2022. As a result of his dedication to his practice, he
was awarded multiple awards and accolades and was well-respected in his profession.
Robert was a kind and gentle man who had a profound love of sports, food, travel, family and his best friend and wife Annette Martin. He was proud of his children and grandchildren and loved his family and their time together dearly. While he was preceded in death by his parents Lula Mae and Robert Martin, he leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife, Annette Martin, his children: Leia Martin, Robert L. Martin, Sarah Martin, LaQuoia Alexander, and Cameron Nelson, his grandchildren: Zoey Pryor and Jayda Nelson, 2 sisters, 1 brother, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family, and friends
