Robert Lee Marwill's Obituary
With a heavy heart, we share the news of the passing of Robert Lee Marwill. 10-13-1937 to 01-25-2015. Graduated from Highland Park H. S. in 1955 and University of Texas in 1959 with a degree in Mechanical Engineering. Passions in Bob’s life included desire to grow in his faith, his family, and his many life-long friends. Dad loved his University and Longhorn football. He never tired of giving 100% to better his cherished Delta Tau Delta fraternity or to mentor young college men. Other passions our dad enjoyed included the symphony, theater, keeping up with current movies, politics, anything pertaining to US- and war- related history. His integrity, compassion and his ability to hold himself and others to a high standard will be deeply missed. Bob pledged Delta Tau Delta in 1955 and served in numerous leadership roles while in school and throughout his adult life, including time as President of the Western Division of the National Fraternity. He was a member of the Distinguished Service Chapter, as well. Shortly after graduating, he went to work for Sam P. Wallace Co. He rose in rank to President. He served as President of Spaw Glass Corporation. In 1987 he co-founded The Cadence Group and served as President of Cadence/Cadence McShane Corp. until 1999. During his retirement years, he continued working in the construction industry with PBK Architects and Satterfield and Pontikes. He served as President of Dallas AGC. He fully retired in 2014 and spent time with his grandkids and travelled. Bob is preceded in death by his father, O.H. Marwill; mother, Viola Ohring Marwill; and brother, Gene G. Marwill. He is survived by Janine Marwill Torma, Joe Torma, and Nathan; Barbara Marwill and Scott Schaefer, Corey, Christina, Alyssa, Valerie and Quentin; Gregory and Lori Marwill, Hannah and Colton. A memorial service and Rosary will be from 6:00 to 8:00 PM on Friday, January 30 at Restland Memorial Chapel. Funeral mass will be at 10:00 AM on Saturday, January 31 at Christ the King Catholic Church, 8017 Preston Road, DlS, TX 75225. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Robert L. Marwill Leadership Fund National Delta Tau Delta Educational Foundation 10000 Allisonville Road Fishers, Indiana 46037.
