Robert Dennis McCutchan Jr's Obituary
Robert Dennis (“Bob”) McCutchan Jr. passed away on Thursday, July 14, 2022 at Villages of Lake Highlands in Dallas, Texas. Bob was born to Robert Dennis McCutchan, Sr. and Martha Tschauder McCutchan in Brooklyn, New York on October 23, 1939. Bob graduated first in his class at La Salle Academy in New York City and attended college at the University of Notre Dame, where he received a degree in accounting and was the senior manager of the Notre Dame football team.
After graduation, Bob served four years as a Lieutenant in the US Navy and, following his service, went to work for American Airlines, where he continued to work as an executive with the company until his retirement. He relocated to Dallas with his family in 1979 when American moved its corporate headquarters there. Bob enjoyed anything and everything Notre Dame and was a devoted fan of the Texas Rangers and the Dallas Stars. But most of all, he loved his family and friends.
Bob was a lifelong Catholic and a long-time parishioner of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church. He was preceded in death by his parents and is survived by his loving and devoted wife of fifty-four years, Sheila Curtin McCutchan, his son, Robert D. McCutchan III, daughter-in-law Skye Smith, his grandchildren Margaret Anne McCutchan, Elizabeth Wells McCutchan and Robert Connor McCutchan, and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. His quick smile, mischievous blue eyes, gentle spirit and inclusive nature will be missed by all.
A memorial mass will be held at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church of Dallas located at 9643 Ferndale Rd, Dallas, TX 75238 on Monday, August 1st at 10:00am.
A funeral mass will be held at St. Edmund’s Catholic Church in Breezy Point, New York on Saturday, August 6th at 11:00am.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the University of Notre Dame or the Alzheimer’s Foundation of America.
