Robert Edward McKemie's Obituary
MCKEMIE, ROBERT EDWARD beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, departed this world for his Heavenly home on June 24, 2013. Born July 12, 1925 to Audrey and William McKemie in Gainesville, Texas, he was preceded in death by his parents, his sister Helen Riddle of Wichita Falls and his first wife, Dorothea (Dottie) Allen McKemie. Bob grew up in Wichita Falls, moved to Dallas and graduated from SMU. He and his wife, Dottie, owned and operated Town North Hardware in North Dallas for 40 years. He and Dottie were active in the National Retail Hardware Association, the National Spa and Pool Institute, and the North Dallas Rose Society. He is survived by his wife, Helen E. Peterson (Parrish-Myers) McKemie; son, Allen McKemie and wife Sharon of Plano; grandchildren, William and Meredith McKemie; daughter, Melinda and husband Gary Pierce of McKinney; grandchildren Katie and husband, Ryan Houser; Robert Pierce and fiance Ashley Hall; Richard and wife, Alena Pierce, and great-granddaughter, Avery; nephew, Dr. William Riddle; niece, Kay Thomas; nephew, Dr. Stuart Riggs of Houston; stepchildren, Barbara Parrish, her son Mason Hickman; Bob and Molly Parrish and family; Misty and Michael Carter and family; Taylor and Erin Parrish; Don and Kristy Parrish. Bob will be deeply missed and remembered for his dedication and love for his family, his honor and integrity, and his strong faith. Graveside services will be held at 1:00 PM, Thursday, June 27, 2013 at Restland Memorial Park. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM, at Cochran Chapel United Methodist Church, 9027 Midway Road, Dallas 75209. In honor of Bob, memorials may be made to Cochran Chapel United Methodist Church.
