Robert Berry Morrison's Obituary
November 9, 1934 – October 20, 2022
Robert Berry (Bob) Morrison, age 87, of Dallas, passed away and went to be with his Lord and Savior on October 20, 2022. He was born in Dallas, Texas on November 9, 1934, to Henry Willard and Eula Lee Berry Morrison. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend with a love of life.
Bob grew up in the Oak Cliff area where he made life-long friends and developed his enjoyment of sports by playing baseball and basketball at Sunset High School, graduating in 1952. He then went on to attend Arlington State College (UTA) and begin his long career in Dallas banking.
He worked at the Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas and in 1956 joined Mercantile National Bank where a colleague introduced him to her sister, Elaine Moore, and they were married on April 5, 1958. In 1956, Bob was drafted and proudly served in the U.S. Army. After his military service, he returned to Mercantile and became a successful Commercial Loan Officer there and with its successors, MBank, Bank One and JP Morgan Chase, retiring as Senior VP in 1999. He then went on to work another decade at Amegy Bank. In business, he was known for his strong work ethic and loyal client relationships, with many becoming close friends.
Bob was a fitness enthusiast and avid runner, completing 20 marathons, including the Boston Marathon and White Rock Marathon. He ran most days at White Rock Lake for many years with his running buddies and was one of the original members of the Cross-Country Club of Dallas. He also enjoyed long-distance biking and golf at Lakewood Country Club. He was a dedicated member of the Downtown Dallas YMCA where he served as Board Chairman.
Bob placed his commitment to Jesus first. He was active in East Grand Baptist and Wilshire Baptist and later in life, other area churches. In retirement, Bob enjoyed serving in Bible Study Fellowship and valued the friendships he formed there. He showed us how to look to the Lord for guidance and we find strength in his legacy of faith.
He was most proud of his family and had a constant love for them, which he demonstrated in many ways. Time spent with his wife, daughters and sons-in-law and granddaughters was the highlight of his retirement years, especially annual vacations in Seaside, Florida.
Bob is survived by his beloved wife of 64 years, Elaine; his daughters, Susan Shelton and husband Russell, and Kerry Mims and husband Joe; and granddaughters, Hayley Shelton, Mallory Shelton, and Jessica Mims; and brother-in-law, Don Moore and wife Mary; along with nieces, nephews and cousins.
Our family wishes to thank Dr. John C. Brooks, CC Young, and Trinette Jones for their compassionate care.
Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, November 5, 2022, at 11:00 a.m. at Restland Funeral Home Wildwood Chapel. Viewing will be from 10:00-10:30 a.m. in the Wildwood Chapel, 13005 Greenville Ave., Dallas, TX 75243.
If desired, memorial donations may be made to BSF International or the YMCA of Metropolitan Dallas Foundation.
