Robert Allen Nash's Obituary
Robert Allen Nash died peacefully on Wednesday, June 10, 2020, while watching his favorite movie star, John Wayne, in the movie classic, “The Horse Soldiers.” Robert, who was also known as Bob, Bobby, Grill Cheese Bob, Nash Rambler, Daddy, and Papaw, was a funny man. His silliness and goofy sense of humor will be missed by all who knew him! Robert was 85 years old at the time of his death.
Robert was born on May 30, 1935, in rural Mississippi. He grew up in rural Mississippi and was a mischievous country boy. He would proudly share stories (with anyone who would listen) of his many antics and impish ways. None of his pranks were performed with any malice. He was a kind boy and later a kind man.
After graduating from High School, Robert moved on to Lewisville, Texas to “get rich and be a cowboy.” He may not have been “rich” with money, but he was rich with love and family. He met and later married Betty Jane Cunningham (Nash). They were inseparable until Betty’s death two years ago. Betty and Bob were married 61 years. Together they had three daughters, nine grandchildren, and fourteen great-grandchildren. Robert loved camping and traveling. He visited all fifty states, Mexico, Canada, the Caribbean, and Europe. Robert was gifted at math and numbers and especially budgets. He worked for D.P.&L. (which later became TXU) for 38 years before retiring from engineering. He began with the company by reading meters and ended up as an engineer in charge of budgets for the company.
Robert was preceded in death by his siblings, Doc Nash, Chester Nash, and Mamie Kersh. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Betty Jane Nash.
Robert is survived by his eldest daughter, Merry Blevins, and her children, Abigayle, Gabriel, Rebecca, and Jonathan; middle daughter, Melody Eady, and her children, Gayla, Ryan, Heather, and Ashley; and youngest daughter, Michelle Nash and her child Todd Allen Nash. He is also survived by fourteen great-grandchildren.
