Mr. Robert Francis Nerf's Obituary
Robert Francis Nerf, 79, of Lewisville, Texas, passed away on July 12, 2022
Bob was born on December 18, 1942 to Francis and Helen (Clark) Nerf, in Albany New York. After graduating from Shaker High School we went into the US Navy in 1961 as a radio operator Petty Officer 2nd Class, then trained in underwater demolition.
At the end of his military career in 1967, he landed his first job at Western Electric, kicking of a 50+ year career in the emerging computer field and ultimately became a software/hardware design engineer.
In 1964 he met Cherrie Coil and they wed in 1964 and went on to have 2 children, Daniel and Stacie.
It was during these years that he found his first sports love – soccer. Bob played, coached, and referred soccer, including collegiate for 20+ years, even supporting his family for 2 years by refereeing.
1983 he met and married Dasie Humphrey, the love of his life, and added 2 more children, Skip and Darcy, to his family.
Transitioning into retirement, “Bob the Builder” put his handy skills into action and started working as a contractor, and flipping homes for several years, while enjoyed playing and watching his second sports passion - golf.
Bob was predeceased by his father and mother, Francis and Helen Nerf, his brother Francis Nerf.
He is survived by his sisters, Christine, Debbie, Nadine, and his brothers Greg and Donald, his wife Dasie, his children, Skip, Daniel, Darcy, and Stacie, and his 7 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.
Service will be held Saturday, July 23, 2022 @10A, with burial immediately following.
