Robert Louis Oetting's Obituary
OETTING, ROBERT LOUIS born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania on September 4, 1914 has passed away at Presbyterian Village North in Dallas, Texas on November 6, 2012. Bob attended schools in East Cleveland and Milwaukee before receiving a B.S. degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Wisconsin. In 1948 the University granted him a Professional E.E. degree. During over 40 years with General Electric he held many engineering and marketing assignments, including manager of the Lighting Institute in Cleveland and Southwestern Sales in Dallas. He held Fellow Emeritus status with the Illuminating Engineering Society. He served his churches in Milwaukee, Cleveland and Dallas; the Lighthouse for the Blind, The Community of Churches, Perkins Laity Advisory Board, the Dallas Rotary Club of Dallas, and Sales & Marketing Executive Clubs in Dallas, and Texas Lutheran University in Seguin. Preceded in death by his wife of 61 years, Madaline Smith Oetting. Survived by son, Eric Oetting; daughter and son-in-law, Lisa and Tom Bloodgood; nephew, Mark Oetting; grandchildren: Jason Darrah; Josh Oetting and fiancee, Danielle Davidson; April Oetting Adams and husband, Terry Adams; Lauren Bloodgood; Nick Bloodgood; great-grandchildren, Tra Adams, Rylan Adams, and soon-to-arrive, Layla Davidson Oetting. Bob’s family extends its deepest appreciation for the love and support shown by the staff and caregivers of Arbor Place and Joyce Hall at Presbyterian Village North and Faith Presbyterian Hospice. Memorial service to be held at King of Glory Lutheran Church, 6411 LBJ Freeway, Dallas, Texas on Friday, November 9, at 2:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to King of Glory Lutheran Church, Texas Winds Musical Outreach, or any of the other entities Bob served.
