Robert E. "Bob" Osmundsen's Obituary
Robert Edward Osmundsen, 94, known to his friends and family as "Bob" passed away on July 6, 2023 in Irving, Texas.
He grew up in Canton, Ohio where he graduated high school and he also attended Ohio State University.
He met his wife Janice at the Army Finance School in St. Louis and married three months later. They were married for 61 years. He had a long career in the insurance industry. He started at Indiana Lumbermans in 1954 in Indianapolis. The job moved him to Irving, Texas in 1961 where he resided for 52 years.
He worked for numerous insurance companies over the years and eventually owned his own managing general agency and insurance company.
After retirement, he loved spending time at his lake house and going to Winstar to play the One Arm Bandit. After his wife passed, he met his new life partner, Shirley Hickman and they enjoyed traveling together on cruises and their evening happy hour with wine and cheese.
He is preceded in death by his son, Steven Osmundsen, wife, Janice Osmundsen; sisters, Mary Riley and Jane Ketler as well as parents; Edward and Lola Osmundsen.
Left to cherish his memory is his daughter, Kathi Skinner and her husband Chris Skinner; Grandchildren, Jake and Sam Skinner; partner, Shirley Hickman and her granddaughter, Tisha Barrier and numerous nieces and nephews.
