Robert Cecil Rippy's Obituary
RIPPY, ROBERT “CECIL” 92, died peacefully Thursday, August 16, 2012 at Richardson Methodist Hospital. He leaves his wife of 70 years, Ouida Breedlove Rippy; his sons, Robert Rippy and Terry Rippy; his sister Betty Flynt, 9 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; 5 great-great grandchildren and many close friends. One of seven children, Cecil was born on October 30, 1919 to Porter Oather Rippy and Annie Jewel (Jackson) Rippy and was a lifelong resident of Richardson. Cecil grew up on his family farm. He met his wife, Ouida Breedlove, through family and they were married in 1942. He served honorably as an airman in WWII, and flew many combat missions as a Tech Sergeant (Engineer/Gunner) on B-24s out of Italy. Following the war, Mr. Rippy worked in the aerospace industry for Glover-Hunt Machine Company as head quality control engineer until his retirement in 1986. Cecil’s faith and family were paramount to him. The importance of these two aspects of his life led him to write a memoir called, “Growing Up In Richardson”. His strength, character, integrity, and Christian faith are without question and serve as an inspiration to all of us who are blessed to have known him. A celebration of life will be held at The First United Methodist Church of Richardson, Texas on August 23, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. with reception following. Visitation will be on Wednesday, August, 22, 2012 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Restland Funeral Home, Dallas, Texas. Donations may be made in his honor to The First United Methodist Church of Richardson.
