Robert Houston Ross' Obituary
Born November 13, 1925 in Jonesboro, AR. He passed away peacefully at home with his wife at his side on February 9, 2012. Bob was a decorated WWII veteran. He was awarded two purple hearts while serving in the army in the European Theater. He was also awarded a Bronze Star for bravery in combat. He earned his Bachelors Degree from Arkansas State University in 1950, and an MBA from Oklahoma State University in 1951. During that time he married the love of his life, Yvonne Hart in Paragould, AR in 1949. They moved to Dallas, TX where he went to work for E Systems (now Raytheon)for 38 years, retiring as Director of Facilities. Bob had a passion for antique clocks. His passion began with one clock he repaired himself with help from instruction books he picked up at the library. This rare much needed talent grew into a hobby of repair and restoration of numerous clocks. He also was an active member of NAWCC. Soon after retiring, he saw a need to get fellow retired co-workers together. This grew into a monthly luncheon for all retirees and their spouses. The first meeting was in January 1990 and continues to this day. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Yvonne Hart Ross; two daughters, Debbie Brown and husband Lawrence of Dallas, TX and Jill Osborn and husband Larry of Lone Oak, TX; grandchildren: Rachel Young, Bennett Brown, Spencer Brown and brother, Charles Ross of Jonesboro, AR. Service will be held at 3:30PM on Monday, February 13, 2012, at Restland Memorial Chapel with visitation one hour prior to service in the chapel.
