Robert R. Rubio Sr.'s Obituary
Surrounded by loved ones at his place of residence, Avante Nursing Home in Irving, TX, Robert R. Rubio, Sr. took his first breath in Heaven on May 6, 2019. Robert lived a long 90-year life loved by family, friends and everyone he met.Robert R. Rubio, Sr. was born in Dallas, TX to father, Augustine and mother, Maria, with brother Joe Rubio Sr., Raymundo Rubio, Augustine Rubio, Jr. and Joe Rubio Jr. and sisters Maria Dolores Rubio Martinez, Teresa Rubio Juarez and Anna Rubio Webb. Robert worked at his family’s grocery store, Rubio Grocery, off Westmoreland and Singleton in Dallas, Texas. At the tender age of 20, Robert enlisted into the Armed Forces of the United States of America November 9, 1950 and was transferred to the Army Reserve on October 16, 1952. He was Honorably Discharged from the Amy of The United States on October 2, 1956 and received the Combat Medic Badge and the Purple Heart award for the testimonial of Honest and Faithful Service.He then married widow, Dolores Rodriguez, who had one son, Michael Reed. Robert and Dolores added two children to their family, Melinda and Robert Jr. They raised their children in Dallas where Robert worked faithfully for 30 years at Bosco Bolt, Nut, Screw Co. Robert didn not know a stranger and made new friends wherever he went. He enjoyed laughing and listening to his favorite record by ABBA and mariachi bands. Visiting his parent’s home in Irving, TX and enjoying great patio weather with his siblings was the highlight of his days.His children grew to get married and have families of their own. Shortly after, Robert re-married his wife, Jeannine Stoffels. They lived happily in Irving, TX and both resided together at Avante Nursing Home. He was very loved and spoiled by his nurses and doctors at his nursing home. If you knew Robert, you knew he loved coffee and was a very talented artist from a very young age. His love for art, including charcoal, pencil and oil painting was also passed down to his children and grandchildren, like him they all are naturally talented artists with no formal training.He was preceded in death by his father, Augustine Rubio Sr., mother, Maria Rubio Rodriguez and siblings Joe Rubio Sr., Raymundo Rubio Maria Dolores Rubio Martinez. Those left to cherish his memory include his wife, Jeannine Stoffels Rubio and children: Melinda Sanchez and husband David, Robert Rubio Jr. and wife Teresa, Michael Reed and wife Mary. Grand-children: Rachel Mijares and husband Armando, Gianni Rubio and wife Deanna, David Rubio and wife Alesia, and Daniel Rubio and wife Amanda, Michelle Reed, Christopher Reed and wife Amanda. Great-grand-children: Anthony and Melina Mijares, Brianna, Jonathan, Gianna and Ella Rubio, Sophia and Michael Rubio, Aria and Julian Rubio, Ethan and Mason Reed. Sisters: Teresa Rubio Juarez, Anna Rubio Webb. Brothers: Augustine Rubio Jr. and Joe Rubio Jr.He was a wonderful man that came to know Jesus as his Lord and Savior in his last years and He will be greatly missed. I know you are at peace and you are at home with Jesus, be happy with your new life and in joy being with the rest of the family.
