Robert Terry Sauls' Obituary
Robert Terry Sauls died peacefully the morning of July 7th in Tyler, Texas. During his lifetime, Robert Terry Sauls had many friends and didn't know a stranger. Terry Sauls was born on a Thursday, on March 27, 1941, to Sam Sauls, Sr. and Zella Mae Teel Sauls, in Denton, Texas.
The youngest of four children, his siblings spoiled him rotten, growing up in a Victorian house in downtown Denton. From the wraparound porch, he would wave at anyone passing by, whether by car or walking. He simply enjoyed being around people. The moment you saw Terry, from his smile alone, you felt a warmth and friendliness about him. To family, friends, co-workers, and bosses alike, he was the type of guy who would help anyone in need.
His love of the outdoors led him to his first job as greenskeeper for the Golf Course on the Texas Women's University campus. Soon he became a family man, husband to Imelda and father to Carmen Louise and Elizabeth Ann.
He went to work for GM Parts Division in Dallas. Shortly thereafter, he decided to follow his father's path, and joined Lone Star Gas Co., as a pipeline inspector in the late '70s. It was at Lone Star Gas, where met Gloria Smith, and they were married.
Terry retired from Lone Star Gas Co., in 2006. He also worked part time at Trader’s Village in Grand Prairie, helping Gloria at her vendor's booth.
He was predeceased by wife, Mrs. Gloria Smith Sauls, his younger daughter, Elizabeth Ann McCutchen, his parents, and his brothers, Sam Sauls, Jr. and Bob Sauls and sister Wanda Louise Sauls Amyx.
His survivors include his daughter, Carmen Sauls Huff, grandchildren, Robert Huff (Marisela), Bradly Huff (Teresa), Kathryn Huff (Travis Hawkland) and Caleb McCutchen, and five great-grandchildren. In addition, sons Waylon Smith (Amy) and Eric Smith (Jennifer), and grandchildren, Tommy Smith (Tiffany), Ashley Smith, Madeline Smith, Ava Smith, Audrey Smith, plus three great-children, and his first wife and mother of his children, Imelda Cuevas Bartle, numerous nieces, nephews and other loved ones. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
