Robert Leslie Shelton Jr.'s Obituary
SHELTON, JR., ROBERT LESLIE “LES” passed away in Dallas, January 2, 2013. He was born in Dallas on December 15, 1915. He celebrated his ninety-seventh birthday in December. He was preceded in death by his parents, Besse Crawford Shepard Shelton and Robert Leslie Shelton, Sr., his wife, Mary Kathryn (Kate) Bower Shelton, and one son, Robert Leslie Shelton, III. He was a descendant of the Haggard and Shepard pioneer families. He was a 1935 graduate of Highland Park High School and served in the US Army in WWII. Survivors include six grandchildren: Todd Shelton and wife Misty, Winnsboro; Daniel Shelton, Austin; Susan Daves and husband Mark, Carrollton; Elizabeth Hammons and husband Brent, Tyler; David Shelton and wife Kendra, Austin; and Jonathan Shelton, Tyler; eight great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. His business career included positions with Halliburton Corporation, Lingo Lumber Company and Industrial Properties Corporation. Les was dearly loved by family, fellow employees, friends and neighbors. He was always upbeat and personable with his many stories and jokes. The family wishes to thank the staffs of The Plaza at Edgemere and Grace Hospice for their loving care of Les the last few months. A memorial service will be held Saturday, January 5, 2013, 3:00 PM, at Restland Abbey Mausoleum Chapel. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the charity of your choice.
