Robert Lloyd Smith's Obituary
Robert L. Smith of Plano, Texas passed away October 5, 2025. He was born April 19, 1932, in Lexington, Nebraska. Bob was the first of four children born to Lloyd and Isabel Smith. He graduated from the University of Nebraska in 1956 and was a lifelong Husker football fan. He is survived by his wife Joan. They celebrated 65 wonderful years together in May. He is also survived by his brother Rick Smith and wife Jane, and Bob’s four children: son Bruce Smith and wife Wendy, daughter Anne Gallo and husband Bill, daughter Cindy Smith and partner Brian Warren, daughter Kathy Mosby and husband Clay, six grandchildren and a great grandson on the way.
Bob enjoyed various occupations throughout his life, including
teaching and managerial positions in government and insurance. After retirement, Bob earned a Master’s Degree in Library Science from the University of North Texas. He began a new career as a librarian, fulfilling his love of reading. Bob loved his family, reading, music, and the Huskers. He will be dearly missed.
