Robert Joseph Spaulding's Obituary
SPAULDING, ROBERT JOSEPH “BOB” was born December 8, 1926 in Manchester, N.H. and went to be with the Lord on January 20, 2016. His family settled in Kansas City, MO where he attended Southwest High School, graduating at age 16. In 1943 at age 17 Bob enilsted in the USMC. He was awarded “Outstanding Recruit” of his 64 man platoon. He served in the 4th Division-Company G and was awarded a Purple Heart for injuries sustained at the battle of Iwo Jima. He worked for over 30 years as V.P. and General Manager of Glen Oaks Slacks in Dallas, TX. Bob was an avid golfer and loved to hunt. He is preceded in death by his father, George E. Spaulding Sr., his mother Cecilia King Spaulding and brother George E. Spaulding Jr. who were waiting for him with open arms. His greatest treasure was his wife of 66 years June Meng Spaulding, and the family that they created, daughter Debra Spaulding Blades and husband Benji; sons Robert J. Spaulding Jr. and wife Carol; John M. Spaulding and wife Stacie; James D. Spaulding and wife Elizabeth. Grandchildren:Kimberly Blades Askew and husband Jeff; Melissa Blades Brewster and husband Jason; Lindsey Spaulding Lyons and husband David; Kelly Spaulding; Michael Spaulding; Katie Spaulding; Trevor Spaulding; Kristen Spaulding;Lauren Spaulding. Great Grandchildren: Emily, Kate, and Olivia Askew; Noah and Maren Brewster. Visitation will be held at Restland Funeral Home Sunday, January 24, 2016 from 4 -6 PM. Service will be held at Restland Memorial Chapel, Monday, January 25, 2016 at 2:30 PM. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Greater Dallas Alzheimer’s Association.
