Mr. Robert Kenneth Swortwood Jr.'s Obituary
Robert Kenneth Swortwood Jr. died in Plano, Texas on March 9, 2024, at the age of 67.
Robert was born on April 13, 1956, in Dallas, Texas to parents Robert Kenneth Swortwood Sr. and Catherine Ann (Nall) Swortwood.
Robert graduated from Lake Highlands High School, Dallas, TX, in 1974. He attended East Texas State University in Commerce, TX, and Richland College, in Dallas, TX, where he obtained an associate degree in psychology.
Robert worked as a health aide to adults with intellectual disabilities living in group homes. He also worked at E-Systems in Garland, Texas and Texas Instruments in Dallas, Texas. He worked at Fiesta Foods in Pleasant Grove, Texas, until his retirement in 2017.
Robert loved all forms of sports and was extremely knowledgeable. His favorite pastime was attending music concerts and Cowboys, Spurs and Mavericks games. His favorite teams were the San Antonio Spurs, Dallas Mavericks, Dallas Cowboys, and Oklahoma Sooners. You could always spot Robert at the Cotton Bowl during the Texas/OU games proudly wearing his OU jerseys.
Robert loved his family dearly and enjoyed family get togethers. He was passionate about animal welfare and owned several cats throughout his life, all rescues. His favorite was his beloved Tigger Duke who was his devoted companion for almost 18 years.
He is preceded in death by his parents; his nephew, Brian Scott Baggett; brothers-in-law: John Baggett and Richard Backous. Survivors include sister, Cheryl Backous of Plano, TX, nephews David (Doneen) Baggett of Greenville, Steven (Stephanie) Baggett of Melissa, great nephews Matthew Baggett of California, Sam Baggett of Plano, Jarren Parrent of Oklahoma, niece Emily Baggett of San Antonio and numerous beloved cousins.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, April 5, 2024, at 10:00 a.m. at Restland Funeral Home in the Wildwood Chapel with a graveside service to follow.
