Dr. Robert Rhoads Trostel's Obituary
Robert Rhoads Trostel MD went to be with his Lord and Savior on 6/29/12 in Garland, TX after a battle with cancer. He was preceded in death by his parents, Everett and Ruth Trostel and by Martha Trostel. He is survived by his spouse, Beth; sons, Mike, Steven, and Todd; daughters-in-law Tami, Gail, and Amber; grand-children Paige, Melanie, Julie Anne, Amanda, and Ryan; sisters Susan Blockley and Marilyn Dillow. Bob was born in Long Beach, CA and grew up in Dallas, TX. He attended Woodrow Wilson HS and then the University of Texas-Austin. He went on to attend UT Southwestern Medical School. After his residency, Bob served in the military at Dyess Air Force Base in Abilene, TX, achieving the rank of captain. After fulfilling his military service, Bob went into private practice in Garland, TX with Dr. Edward Hoffman. He practiced obstetrics and gynecology for over 41 years and delivered just over 11,000 babies. He practiced at Memorial Hospital of Garland (now known as Baylor Medical Center at Garland) where he served as Chairman of the Department of OB/GYN and Chief of Staff during his tenure. He was loved and cherished by his family, patients, colleagues, and staff throughout his career. Visitaion will be from 6:00PM – 8:00PM, Friday, July 6, 2012 at Restland Funeral Home. Service will be held at 11:00AM, Saturday, July 7, 2012 at Scofield Memorial Church, 7730 Abrams Road, Dallas, TX 75231. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations be made to the American Cancer Society in his honor.
