Mr. Robert Wiley Turner's Obituary
Robert Wiley Turner one of God's children, went to his heavenly home on November 4, 2023. Family and friends grieve the loss of a man whose love knew no earthly bounds. Robert also known as Bob was born on September 17, 1939, to parents William Jackson Turner and Mary Frances Peden Turner. Robert’s younger brother, Billy Jack Turner, passed away on Christmas Day 1963. Robert graduated high school from Kaufman, Texas. In 1963 he earned a Bachelor of Science Degree, majoring in Physics and Mathematics from East Texas State University, now known as Texas A&M Commerce.
After four years of dating, Joan Adele Powell and Robert were united in marriage on June 1, 1962. Robert’s professional career with Texas Instruments gave him an opportunity to work and grow professionally in both Dallas, Texas and Taipei, Taiwan. After retiring from Texas Instruments, Robert was employed by Texas Advanced Optoelectronic Solutions, also known as TAOS. His second retirement from TAOS gave him time to pursue his love of water skiing, camping, square dancing, woodworking and furniture refinishing.
Those left to carry on his legacy of love are his wife of 61 years, Joan, their two children Connie Carol Jones and Robert Craig Turner, as well as Scott Owen Jones, Beth Allison Patterson, granddaughter, Ashley Carole Jones, three grandsons, Zachary Owen Jones, William Jackson Turner and Nathan James Turner. Also left to cherish Robert’s memory is his granddaughter in-law, Alyssa Danielle Jones and his two great grandchildren, Brylie Nicole Jones and Brayden Owen Jones. Robert also had a special closeness with brothers-in-law, Billy Joe Powell and Ralph Marvin Powell.
Friends were an important part of Robert’s life. His friends were numerous, and some considered more like brothers and sisters than friends. With unqualified assurance it can be said that when the time comes to join our friends and loved ones in Heaven, Robert will be there to welcome us home to eternity.
