Robert "Bob" Vernon Peppard Jr.'s Obituary
PEPPARD, JR. ROBERT “BOB” VERNON passed away March 3 from heart failure. He was 56. Born in Midland, Texas, Bob and his family moved to Dallas when he was a small child and it was here that he spent most of his life. Decades of devoted study of music manifested themselves in his playing of the piano, guitar and banjo. He also found great pleasure singing in the choir at Lovers Lane United Methodist Church. The outdoors was Bob’s true church and his spiritual refuge. His backyard was his man cave. Bob’s wife Debi would tell him what she wanted for the garden and Bob would proudly go get what was on the list. Bob would take Debi out to the backyard so she could see all the work he had done, as he was her caregiver. Together, they would watch the flowers grow, then turn to each other and say, “Great job! How beautiful.” Bob enjoyed his pagoda and both Bob and Debi treasured each other’s company under the stars, alone and at peace. Near his pagoda, Bob would survey his private sanctuary and feel at peace with the place he had created. When Bob was outside, ducks would visit and paddle in the pool. When Debi would come out, she reports that the ducks would leave. But alone with Bob, they would stay, safe inside his peaceful world. This was Bob’s favorite time, alone with God, the animals, the trees and flowers. Bob was preceded in death by his father, Robert Vernon Peppard; great nephew Cameron Smithwick. In addition to his wife, Deborah Lynn “Debi” Peppard, he is survived by his mother, Paula Peppard; sisters, Katherine Brewer and Mary Ann Peppard; brother, Alan Peppard; niece Angelia Smithwick; nephew Danny Swindol; and five great nieces and nephews. Visitation will be Tuesday, March 18, from 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM at Restland Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 2:30 PM, Wednesday, March 19, 2014 at Restland Memorial Chapel with committal service to follow.
