Robert Hal Watkins' Obituary
Robert Hal Watkins, better known as Dado, age 89, passed away peacefully on April 6th, 2024, surrounded by his loving family. His departure leaves a void in our hearts, but his legacy will forever resonate with those who knew him.
Born on May 7th, 1934, Robert was the son of Hal Preston Watkins and Lucille Grassham. His unwavering commitment to family, community, and kindness defined his life. As a devoted husband, father, and grandfather, he exemplified the values of loyalty, integrity and generosity.
In 1955, Robert earned a Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics from The University of Texas and later life led him to serve in the US Air Force in Salina, Kansas.
There, he met his beloved wife, Charlotte Zarembski and they married on June 7th, 1958 in Denison, TX. Together they built a life for their two daughters, with steadfast love and unending support.
Robert’s professional career took him to Texas Instruments in Dallas and in 1964 he joined a “startup” company, Electronic Data Systems, as a system engineer. He helped build the company for 25 years and after a fulfilling career, Robert retired in 1989. His retirement years were spent serving his family, golfing and working part time in the home building industry. He enjoyed reading library books, crossword puzzles and always appreciated a good home cooked meal. His sweet spirit lives on in the memories shared by family and friends who knew and loved him.
He is survived by his two Daughters Pam Roberts and Kim Moseley, son-in-laws Pete Roberts and Steve Moseley, his grandchildren Michael Roberts, Stephen Roberts, Taylor Morgan and Rachel Yosick and her husband Mark Yosick. He is also survived by his adorable great-grandchildren Luke Yossick, Scarlett, Layla and Jacoby Morgan.
A service of remembrance will be held at Prince of Peace Catholic Community Chapel in Plano, TX on April 27th, 2024, at 2:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Marcus Autism Center - Atlanta.
