Robert Alan Winstead's Obituary
Born September 7, 1950, Alan went to be with the Lord on July 4, 2019. Alan was preceded in death by his father Robert Dois Winstead (1957), step-father Donald Ray Norton (1999) and mother Mary Ellen Norton (2012). Alan is survived by daughter Dr. Kristy Ellen Anderson, her husband Dr. (Lt Col) Todd Anderson and three grandchildren, Justin, Christopher, and Katelyn Anderson. Alan worked for many years as an operations manager in the tech industry and took on the daunting challenge as a project manager for Lockheed-Martin after 9/11 to upgrade our nation’s airport security before moving on to work with groundbreaking efforts at Apple. While residing in Kentucky, Alan was inducted into the Honorable Order of Kentucky Colonel’s. The commission of Kentucky Colonel is the highest title of honor bestowed by the Governor of Kentucky. It is in recognition of an individual’s noteworthy accomplishments and outstanding service to the local community, state of Kentucky, and nation. An avid golfer, Alan counted himself fortunate to have golfed many prestigious courses including Pebble Beach and Spyglass in CA and Valhalla in Louisville, KY to name just a few. He was an advocate for democracy and served his community as a voting precinct judge. Alan was a very active member of Watermark Church, having served on several teams. Visitation will be at Restland Funeral Home, Dallas, TX, WEdnesday, July 10, 2019 at 6 PM – 8 PM. Services will be held at Watermark on Thursday July 11, 2019 at 2:00 PM. Funeral arrangements have been faithfully entrusted to Restland Funeral Home and Cemetery, 13005 Greenville Avenue, at Restland Road, Dallas, Texas 75243.
