Robert Earl Zwanziger's Obituary
Robert Earl Zwanziger (Bob and Grampi), 84 of Garland, TX, passed away on June 27, 2022. He was born on November 11, 1937, in Waterloo, Iowa to Wendall Frank and Evelyn Ellen Zwanziger. Being raised on the family farm planted a passion in him for the land and farming that he carried throughout his life. He graduated from Orange Center High School in 1956, then enlisted in the Navy where he proudly served for 4 years. After his return from service, he began working for John Deere Tractor Works, married the love of his life Lavaughn Joye Cochran and started his family with two children, Doris and Frank. He received his Mechanical degree and started his drafting career in the engineering department at Winnebago Industries in Forest City, Iowa. Moving on to greater opportunities for his family, he transferred to Texas to work for Texas Instruments and eventually retired from the U. S. Postal Service. He was a talented artist, crafting and painting ceramics and incredible wood carvings that continue to be admired. His carvings earned him several awards and first place blue ribbons at the Texas State Fair. His family was his priority, and he was always there to show his love and support. He coached their sports, cheered them on, gave big hugs and taught them with his patience and loving guidance. He made holidays special, especially Christmas and treasured being with everyone for Sunday dinners. Never meeting a stranger, he loved sharing stories with everyone and just being together. He was filled with a wealth of knowledge and was always eager to share his advice and assist when needed. His loving sweet nature will be cherished and dearly missed by all that were lucky to have known him.
