Roberta W. Hardin's Obituary
Roberta (Bobbie) Hardin left this world to join her beloved Savior, Jesus Christ, and many deceased family members and friends on March 21, 2017. Born in Brooklyn, New York, in 1929, Bobbie was placed into an orphanage where she was joined by her older brother and later by her younger sister. When she was less than two years old, her Grandmother took a train from Kentucky to New York, and adopted her. She returned by the same method where Bobbie was joined with her Grandfather, two Aunts and five Uncles. As a teenager and beginning at age six, she became an incredible long distance swimmer. She was taught by her uncles whom she regarded as brothers. Bobbie stayed with her grandparents until she married her high school Sweetheart, Alan G. Hardin, in 1949. They first met in 9th grade band where there was an immediate attraction and sweet music between them. Bobbie played first seat saxophone. Bobbie and Alan enjoyed a love affair lasting in a marriage of 67 years. Known as the “Sweet Lady”, Bobbie had a smile that would light up the room and engulf all participants. She never met a stranger: all were instantly Friends. She was often hugged by wait staff and even strangers at neighboring tables. Bobbie was an incredible wife, mother, grandmother and friend. She never complained and always saw nothing but good in everyone she met. Bobbie possessed an incredible, but unique, sense of humor which left all with much laughter and affection. She loved all, and all loved her, whether they had two or four legs. Bobbie is survived by her husband Alan, their four children, eight grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren. Her infectious smile and spirit will live on through all she has touched. Funeral service will be held at 3:00 pm, Saturday, March 25, 2017 at the Restland Abbey Chapel with visitation 1 hour prior starting at 2:00 pm in the chapel.
