Roberto Warren Christy's Obituary
On September 11, 2019, Roberto Warren Christy was called home by his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. He was born in Panama on July 9, 1935. He was a resident of Plano, Texas for the last thirty-five years. Roberto was preceded in death by his parents, Samuel Christy and Lucille Blake and his wife, Emmie Juanita Christy.Roberto is survived by his three daughters: Carlyn Christy Davis (Richard), Roslyn Christy Hewitt (Vern), and Celize Christy. He is also survived by his 100-year-old step-mother, Cleotha (“Vi”) Christy; three brothers: Arthur Christy, Samuel Christy, and Raymond Christy; two sisters: Marva Kester and Sheila Christy-Martin; Celize’s mother, Sheila Simmons; companion, Dorothy John- Baptiste; and extended close family and friends.Roberto attended primary and secondary school in Panama before moving to New York in 1955. He served in the United States Army in the late 1950’s. In his early career, he worked as an electrician for Westinghouse and was on the crew that installed the elevators in the Twin Towers of the World Trade Center in lower Manhattan. During his career of over three decades with IBM, he was among the first black salesmen in the company. While at IBM, he and his family lived in Endicott, New York and St. Croix in the U. S. Virgin Islands; then he moved to Plano, Texas where he retired from IBM. He acquired multiple awards and high recognition for his outstanding performance in sales. Roberto ended his professional career in 2012 as an insurance agent.Visitation for Mr. Roberto W. Christy will be Thursday, September 19, 2019 from 5:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. at Restland Funeral Home and Cemetery, 13005 Greenville Avenue, Dallas, Texas. Funeral service will be Friday, September 20, 2019 at 2:00 P.M. in the Memorial Chapel at Restland. Burial will also be at Restland. The funeral will be a closed-casket service; however, family and friends can view his body from 1:00 P.M. to 1:55 P.M. at the Restland Funeral Home Memorial Chapel. A BBQ repast will be held in the reception hall in the Restland Event Center (across the street from the chapel) following the committal at 3:30 PM.
