I was so saddened to find that Roger was no longer with us, but rejoiced to know that he was with our Father God and a host of other family members in Heaven. Roger and I were in contact many years ago working on genealogy research along with his brother, Kenneth. I regret that we lost touch over the years. In my retirement, I find much comfort in connecting family members through genealogy research and found Roger's obit on the internet this morning. I would love to talk to one of his family if someone would contact me at mfallwell@yahoo.com. I'm writing a family book and want to get your family intact. I have a lot of research dating back 50 years ago. I know it has been a couple of years since Roger's passing, but thank God for the wonderful memories that still are strong in our hearts. My prayers and family love reaches out to the hearts of my Texas cousins.

My brother Rodger, as was all our family, a very patriotic guy. He served in the Air Force from 1946-49 in Alaska. Most every time he said goodbye in the last ten years, he gave a salute. I will miss this as it was always with a big smile. In the late 1940's, and early 50's, his warmest memory and mine, was all the family sitting around a big table, having what we call, "supper time" Rodger stepped into eternity on Feburary 16, 2009, joining his brothers Earl Jr., Gene, Clyde, Kenneth and Harold. Bless them all.

Roger rented a room at my Mother's house, Freda Hilburn, after my Father, Bud Hilburn, passed away in 1979. They both moved from there to the Casa Trevinio Apartments on Davis Ave. They shared a lot of good times together. Roger was such a fun loving guy. He had his bad moments, but then don't we all? He was so intelligent! I remember him taking my Spanish lesson tapes to be able to communicate with the residents who spoke little or no English. His telling of the first time he overheard and understood two Hispanics talking derogatorially about him in the elevator and he responded in Spanish, and the looks on their faces were priceless. His biggest regret in life was his mental condition that caused such heartache between him and his family. It will be a joyous day in Heaven when he can see them and know that all sins are forgiven. He was such a religious man.

I am so very sad to learn of his death – My belief, my hope is that all of us go straight to a comforting place where we can see and stay with ones we love who passed before us. I have no doubt that Roger is hugging his family and friends and feeling that awesome burden of age and pain lifted from his heart. There is nothing more precious that I could wish him. He is in the Blessed Hands and Embrace of our Beloved Father – and I am hoping that he is playing a harmonica and accompanying Wes on the guitar – Maybe he will feel like walking a block on his hands (something he told me was a snap for him in his 20s) and maybe he will see his little monkey! I remember all the trips we made as a family to so many wonderful places.I remember Christmas was always a good time. My memories of Daddy are not that great, however I am thankful for the Christian principals taught to me in my youth.He is finally at peace.

My dad always liked music, I remembered he had a lot of the old LP records. I showed him an IPOD a while ago and explained how you can have hours of music on this little tiny box, he was totally fascinated by that. I think if he would have been healthy he would have bought himself an IPOD!
