Roger Briggs Mabra's Obituary
Roger B. Mabra passed peacefully in his sleep Wednesday afternoon, June 11, 2014. He was born in Ft. Worth, Texas in 1937 to Debs and Ona Mabra is survived by his wife, Patsy; two brothers, Alan Mabra of Carlsbad, California and Gary Mabra of McKinney, Texas; step-sister, Francis Moses of Throckmorton; five daughters, Keri Brewer of Ft. Worth, Valerie Ayers of Springtown, Jamie Smith of Sunnyvale, Sandra Edwards of Richardson, and Melody Kelley of Sachse; eight grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Roger loved well and was well loved. He never missed an opportunity to be with family – kids, grandchildren and great-grandchild. He vigorously celebrated every graduation, wedding and birth and enjoyed a full life, going anywhere and everywhere until early 2014. He was loved beyond measure by his wife Patsy Mabra who cared for him in their home after he was diagnosed with ALS in April this year. His decline was dramatic but thankfully not over years, as many ALS patients experience. We are thankful for the full life he enjoyed right up to this closing chapter. Friends, family and those who worked and walked alongside him agree – we were privileged to know and love him. Although we grieve that he is no longer with us we know it was better for him to realize peace, rest and healing in the arms of Jesus once his strength was gone. Jesus was there for him as Roger had asked him to be, several years ago. Family will receive friends on Friday, June 13, 2014 from 6:00 to 7:00 PM at Restland Funeral Home. Funeral service will be held on at 3:00 PM on Saturday, June 14, 2014 at Restland Wildwood Chapel. Lieu of flowers memorial may be made to The ALS Association Texas Chapter, 1231 Greenway Drive, Ste. 295, Irving, TX 75038.
