Roger Vernon's Obituary
James “Roger” Vernon was born February 6, 1953, in Columbus, Ohio and went to be with the Lord on April 26, 2017, in Rowlett, Texas after a courageous battle with cancer. Roger grew up in Irving, TX and graduated from Irving High School in 1971. He loved all sports, excelling in basketball and he was an avid fisherman. He had a very success 40+ year career in home building. His passion and purpose in life was serving the Lord through missions and sharing Christ with others. He was a mentor to many in faith and in life. Set an example for the believers in speech, in life, in love, in faith, and in purity. I Timothy 4:12 NIV Roger was preceded in death by his mother, Sylvia Ann Vernon. He is survived by his loving wife, Kathleen Vernon, daughter Jeana Eckeberger and husband Micah and grandchildren Lilah and Lawson, and sons Gary Vernon and Ryan Vernon. Also survived by father Jim Vernon and wife Judy, siblings Vicki, John, David, Phillip and their families including 23 nephews and nieces. The family will receive friends on Sunday, April 30, 2017, from 4:00 – 6:00 PM at Restland Funeral Home. Service will be held on Monday, May 1, 2017, at 3:00 PM at Restland Funeral Home in Wildwood Chapel with burial immediately following. In Lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First Baptist Church Midlothian, Missions-Roger Vernon. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Restland Funeral Home and Memorial Park, 13005 Greenville Avenue, Dallas, TX 75243.
