Roland Arnold Zalite's Obituary
ZALITE, ROLAND ARNOLD We are saddened to share the news of Roland’s passing on Wednesday, October 9, 2013. He was born in Goteborg, Sweden on June 16, 1948 and immensely proud of his Latvian heritage. At three, he immigrated to Montreal, Canada with his parents, Janis and Erna Zalite (nee Skenders) and older brother and sister, Peter and Ilse, where he lived until immigrating to Dallas, Texas with his new family in the early 1980’s. Roland was employed for many years in the telecommunication business. Roland will be sadly and forever missed by everyone who knew him well, but especially by his loving wife, Janice (nee Dubber) and his loving and devoted step-children, Noelle Leger-Koeberle and Justin Leger, of whom he was extremely proud. The ‘apples of his eye’ were his grandchildren, Anabella O’Brien-Leger, Kaelan Koeberle and Haven Barton-Knabe. He is also survived by his sister, Ilse Zandstra; brother-in-law, Hubert Zandstra; son-in-law, Chris Koeberle; daughter-in-law, Karen Barton-Leger; sisters-in-law, Inita Zalite, Eunice Dubber and nephews, Peter , Andre Zandstra, Janis Zalite and nieces, Alex, Kristi, Tammy Zalite, Heather Wilbers and Bonnie Brown. “He was our North, our South, our East and West”. Roland’s deep love and tender, gentle spirit will sustain us all for a lifetime. A “Celebration of Roland’s Life” will be celebrated at 6:00 pm on October 18, 2013, at the Restland Memorial Chapel, 13005 Greenville Avenue, Dallas, Texas 75243. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the North Texas Food Bank.
