Rollis J Meredith's Obituary
Rollis J Meredith went to be with his Lord on October 25, 2021, at the age of 98 years young. He is predeceased by his parents, Julian Ernest Meredith and Maatha Edna Wright Meredith, his sisters, Arlene Hilbrant and Dorris Chandler, and his brother, Loren Meredith. He is survived by his son, Dan Meredith; daughter, Cynthia Buckley; grandson, Andrew Buckley and wife Victoria; great-grandson, Aiden; and great-granddaughter, Vivienne. He is also survived by the children of his twin sister, Dorris, and their families.
He was born in Mercedes, Texas, on June 5, 1923, where he grew up and graduated from high school. He served in World War II as an Army-Air Force pilot and was stationed on various bases in Texas, Washington State and California. He met his wife, Gracie Lucille Vaughn, in Fort Worth, Texas, and they were married on January 11, 1945, in Walla Walla, Washington. They settled in Fort Worth, where he began a long career with Safeway Stores, Inc. and received an accounting degree from Texas Christian University. After retirement, he settled into playing golf, tending to his yard, traveling, and being a loving granddad to Andrew. And then later a loving great-granddad to Aiden and Vivienne. And, of course, watching Horned Frog football. He was a member of Lakeside Baptist Church and served as a deacon for many years.
Rollis was a kind and generous man who was always there for his family and friends. He never missed an opportunity to say thank you to those who helped him. He will be missed.
