Romey Lee Hall's Obituary
Romey L. Hall, 94, of Dallas, Texas, passed away on July 4, 2018. Romey was born in Hillsboro, Texas on January 24, 1924 to Romey and Etta Hall. The family later moved to Dallas where Romey graduated from North Dallas High School in 1943. After graduation Romey entered the US Navy for three years. After the end of World War II Romey returned home to start college at UT Arlington. Romey married Mary Charles Byrum on June 10, 1950. Shortly thereafter Romey was called back into the Navy for two years in connection with the Korean War. Upon his return home Romey resumed college at Southern Methodist University and graduated in 1954. After graduation Romey worked for Reserve Life Insurance Company and later as Secretary/Treasurer of Southwestern Title Insurance Company. Ultimately, Romey formed his own accounting services company which he maintained until his retirement in 2012. Romey traveled the world with his wife, Mary Charles, and their friends Mel and Marcel Sherard, visiting Asia, the South Pacific, South America, numerous trips to Mexico and Europe and multiple ocean and river cruises throughout the world. Romey was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Dallas since 1968 and the Aldersgate Sunday School Class since 1993. As well, Romey was a longtime member of the Dallas Elks Lodge #71. He also belonged to the Salesmanship Club, the Toast Masters Club and Sertoma’s. Romey is survived by his wife, Mary Charles Hall of Dallas, his sister-in-law Louise Hall of Lakewood, Colorado, nephew Greg Hall of Allenspark, Colorado, niece Cindy Criddle of Lakewood, Colorado and his “adopted” nephews, David Medlin and Edwin Medlin, of San Francisco and Foster City, California, respectively. Romey is also survived by close family friends Pat Patterson and Scott Sherard. Inurnment will be in the Columbarium at the Dallas National Cemetery. A memorial service and celebration of Romey’s life will be held on August 1, 2018 at 2:00 pm in the Wildwood Chapel at Restland Cemetery, Dallas, Texas. A reception will immediately follow at Restland. No flowers, please.
