Ronald James Coyne's Obituary
Ronald James “the Duke” Coyne, was born in 1924, in Sioux City, Iowa. He passed with his family at his side on June 18th, 2016 in Carrollton, Texas. Ronald was preceded in death by his beloved wife and mother of his four children, Donna Beth Rogers Coyne, on March 6th, 1999, as well as his brother, Kenneth in 2007 and his sister Corrine (Sister Walter Marie) in 1997. His parents, Walter Gabrielle and Anna Marie, had a strong work ethic and steered the family through the Great Depression. Ron is survived by his four children, Kevin, Kendall, Kirk and Kimberly (Missy), 10 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren, ages 2-6. The family will receive friends on June 21, 2016 at 1:30 p.m. at Restland Funeral Home and Cemetery, 13005 Greenville Avenue, Dallas TX. The Funeral Service will follow at 2:30 p.m., with a reception at Restland immediately following the ceremony. In lieu of flowers,memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’sAssociation at http://alz.org. As a beloved and faithful husband to his wife of 49 years, Donna Beth, and a dear friend to Jan “Tootsie” Kurka, a special neighbor and angel from above, Ron’s spirited zest for life and his family touched many and served all as a “True North” mission. Ron was a devout Catholic all of his life, from altar boy to community servant, and faithful parishioner of “St. Paul the Apostle” Catholic community in Richardson, Texas for over 30 years. Ron served his Richland Park neighborhood “Crime Watch” family and the “Network Outreach Community” serving those in need, as well as supporting a variety of other local charities. As a successful Sr. Vice President at Associates Financial Services for 25 years, Ron lead the growth of new offices throughout the western United States and was relentless in improving business operations. Ron served in the 8th Armored Division in World War II from 1943-1946, earning the rank of Staff Sergeant. Ron earned three bronze medals for his participation in major battles in Germany. Ron graduated from the University of Iowa with a business degree and was a faithful member and Vice President of Pi Kappa Alpha fraternity in Iowa City. Without a doubt, Ron cherished his roots in Iowa, As a young man in Mapleton and Sergeant Bluff, Ron excelled in track and field athletics and was recognized as a hard worker in the community. Settling with his family in Albuquerque, New Mexico and Richardson, Texas, after 1960, Ron was always an engaging and helpful neighbor, a dedicated husband and spirited leader of his family and community. His memory will be cherished and serve as a guiding light to so many he touched.
