Ronald Wayne Doerler's Obituary
Born in Akron, Ohio, Ron is the son of the late Charles E Doerler, Sr. and Rosemary Crawfis Doerler. When he was a small child, Ron and his family moved to Shreveport, La. He graduated from St. John’s High School in Shreveport and then attended Centenary College of Louisiana before graduating from Louisiana State University, He then received an MBA Degree from The University of Dallas.
Ron proudly served his country honorably in the U S. Army, U.S. Army National Guard and the National Guard Reserve.
Upon his discharge from military service, Ron began his career in the early stages of the computer industry and data management. He spent three years in Midland MI with Dow Chemical Co before joining Southwestern Bell Telephone Company in Dallas, He retired after 25 years of service with SWB/AT&T. After he retired from AT&T, he began a second career with H&R Block Tax Service, only intending to work a year or two but continued working there for 19 years.
Ron and his family are long-time residents of Farmers Branch – moving there as he began his career with SWB/ATT. He enjoyed his community of Farmers Branch, serving on the Farmers Branch Historical Park Board and receiving his 30-year pin before retiring.
He was a lifelong Anglican having been baptized and confirmed in the Episcopal Church. He was active in the church serving in many capacities throughout his life.
The joy of Ron’s life was his family, and he was happiest when he spent time with them. Ron married the love of his life, Donna Howell. He was also a devoted father and grandfather, attending school and sports activities.
Ron and Donna enjoyed traveling and visiting most of the United States and several foreign countries. However, Ron’s greatest passion was his classic cars and his “shade-tree mechanic” adventures.
Ron is survived by his wife Donna, their children, Ronald Wayne Jr. (Marcie), Deborah Osmond (Nicholas); grandchildren Victoria Osmond, Sarah Ellard, Emily Benson (Drew), great grandchild Emma Palmquist, Ron’s brother, Charles E Doerler, Jr. (Mary Jean) of Lawton, OK and many nieces and nephews.
His funeral service will be held at Church of The Holy Communion, 17405 Muirfield Dr., Dallas 75287. at 1 o’clock Friday, December 20, 2024. Interment will follow at about 2:30 pm at Restland Memorial Cemetery, 13005 Greenville Ave., Dallas 75243.
