Ronald Eldon Milton's Obituary
Ronald E. Milton was born to Walter and Evelyn Milton in Altus, Oklahoma, on June 11, 1933. He married Libby Ruth Harrison in New Albany, Mississippi, on June 17, 1955. They moved to Indianapolis, Indiana, where he served the Belmont Church of Christ as the Pulpit Minister and received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Religion from Butler University and a Master of Arts degree in Church History from Christian Theological Seminary. Ron received a Masters of Theology degree in Pastoral Care and Counseling from Southern Methodist University while serving the Lake Highlands Church of Christ in Dallas, TX, as the Pulpit and Counseling Minister and Elder from 1971-1983. As a Licensed Professional Counselor and Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, he entered private practice in 1983 until he retired to Mount Vernon, TX, in 2000. In Mount Vernon, he quickly became involved in community service. He was named 2002 Man of the Year by the Franklin County Chamber of Commerce and served as President of the Franklin County Historical Association. In addition, he was honored as a Paul Harris Fellow through Rotary International. Ron loved music, tennis, snow skiing, movies, WWII history, collecting western art, and ice cream. He will be remembered by his warm, smiling eyes and mischievous sense of humor. He leaves behind his wife of 60 years, Libby Milton, of Mount Vernon, TX, and their children: daughter, Karla Haynes and husband, Gary, of McKinney, TX, daughter, Ruth Ann Beagle, of Justin, TX, and son, Allen Milton, of Bentonville, AR. He also leaves behind his grandchildren, Jordan Haynes Jeffcoat and husband Trey, Callie Haynes, Libby and Haven Beagle, and Eli and Oliver Milton. Great-grandchildren he leaves are Jack and Ivey Jeffcoat. He is also survived by his brother, Joe Lynn Milton of Altus, OK. . The family will receive friends for Ronald Milton on Friday, April 24, 2015 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Restland Funeral Home. A private graveside services will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested memorials be made to Cypress Basin Hospice, 207 Morgan St., Mount Pleasant, TX 75455. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Restland Funeral Home and Memorial Park, 13005 Greenville Avenue, at Restland Road, Dallas, TX 75243.
