Ronald J. Minner's Obituary
MINNER, RONALD JOSEPH – born March 1, 1935 in Houston, Texas went to be with the Lord on September 14, 2019. He is preceded in death by his loving parents Harry Herbert and Maybelle (Westcott) Minner, and his sister Norma Jean Bryant. He is survived by his three children – David Williams, Darrin Williams, and Susan Minner, his sister, Barbara Reese, three grandchildren – Lauren Williams, Darian Williams, and Tristin Minner.Ron grew up and lived the majority of his life in Dallas, Texas. He was raised in the Roman Catholic faith, but later joined First Baptist Dallas. He was baptised at First Baptist Dallas in 1983. He was active at First Baptist Dallas and his Bible Fellowship Class. He had a passion to serve his church and was recognized by his church for his serving heart.Growing up in Lakewood, he graduated in 1954 from Woodrow Wilson High School. Ron attended the University of Texas Austin for two years. While at the University of Texas, he was in the Air Force ROTC Squadron One. Upon the death of his father, Harry Herbert Minner (January 10, 1958), Ron returned home to be with his family during this difficult time. He would later attend Southern Methodist University and graduated in 1963 with his B.B.A. in Accounting.Ron married Linda Lou Vandivort (Williams) on June 2, 1962 at Saint Thomas Aquinas Catholic church. They were married until 1982, and remained close and dear friends to one another.Ron worked at Southland Life Insurance company for 20 plus years as Assistant Treasurer, and retired as an Accountant for Chase Bank of Texas in 2000. After his retirement he spent time volunteering at his church First Baptist in Plano, traveling with his sisters, studying the bible, and playing cards (Canasta) with his sisters and friends. Ron loved nature, cars, airplanes, history, and anything on National Geographic. He had a strong faith in his Lord, Jesus Christ and he had a passion to know God’s Word.He succumbed to complications from Congestive Heart Failure and COPD on Saturday evening, September 14, 2019 in Wylie, Texas. Ron was dearly loved by his children, grandchildren, sisters, several nieces, nephews, and friends. He will be missed by all the wonderful people who came to know and love him.Funeral service will be held Friday, September 20, 2019 at 12:30 PM in the Wildwood Chapel at Restland Funeral Home. Visitation will take place one hour before from 11:30 AM to 12:30 PM in the Wildwood Chapel.
