Roscoe Owen "Rocky" Wheat Jr.'s Obituary
Rocky was born July 29, 1926 in Little Rock, Arkansas to Mr. & Mrs. R. O. Wheat, Sr. He was a graduate of N. R. Crozier Technical High School formerly known as Dallas High School. He attended the School of Bank Marketing at Northwestern University at Chicago, Illinois, and graduated from University of Colorado in Boulder, Colorado in Bank Marketing. He retired from the banking industry in 1989 from the First City Bank Corporation. He served in several civic clubs, Dallas Junior Chamber of Commerce, Downtown Sunrise Optimist Club, and Garland West Kiwanis. He also served as a teacher of the National Institute of Banking for several years, and was President of the North Texas Bank Marketing Association. He served as a bio-vocational music director of 27 Southern Baptist Churches. He was preceded in death by his parents Edna Pearl and Roscoe O. Wheat, Sr. and his sister Lydell Lawrence. Rocky is survived by his wife Allene Wheat of Terrell, TX; sons John Wheat and wife Melinda of Kenedy, TX, Richard Wheat and wife Melinda of Andrews, TX, Robert Wheat and wife Becky of Poetry, TX; granddaughters Mandi and husband Jake Kelly of Pettus, TX, Amy Wheat, of Kenedy, TX, Allison Wheat of Poetry, TX, and Graci-Mei Wheat of Andrews, TX; grandsons Jordan Wheat of Poetry, TX, and Micah Wheat of Andrews, TX; and numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held from 6:00PM to 8:00PM Thursday, April 7, 2011 at Restland Funeral Home. Memorial services will be held at 2:00PM Friday, April 8, 2011 at Shiloh Terrace Baptist Church, 9810 La Prada Dr., Dallas, TX 75228.
