Rose Angela Beaird's Obituary
Rose Angela "Jimmy" Beaird of Dallas, passed away on June 1, 2020. She was born in the Sudan on January 19, 1923, to the late Marie and George Nahas. She grew up in Cairo, Egypt before relocating to the United States at age 24. After living in New York and Los Angeles, she made her home in Dallas, Texas, where she resided for the last 66 years of her life. She was fluent in French, Arabic, and English, and even through decades as a Texan, her heavy French accent remained a charming staple of her personality. Rose delighted in raising her 5 children, in her long term service as a volunteer member and past president of the St. Paul Hospital Women’s Auxiliary, her commitment to the Catholic faith, and in her avid social life. Eventually she was called "Jimmy" by practically everyone, a nickname derived from her grandchildren pronouncing the initials "G.M." for "Grand Mother." She loved reading, chess and Scrabble, crosswords, card games, classic musicals, conservative leaders, The Dallas Cowboys, huge family holiday gatherings, any type of social outing, café au lait and the color pink. Rose saw life through as rosy a lens as her name would suggest. She was a devoted and involved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, a role model and a matriarch who steered her family with elegance, grace and an iron will. Her unmatched joie de vivre will be dearly remembered by all who knew her. She is preceded in death by her loving husband Thomas E. Beaird Jr.; her 8 siblings; her stepdaughter Mary Lou Beaird; her stepson, Thomas E. Beaird III; and her grandson, Ryan Thomas Mayrath. She is survived by her 5 children, Ron Bishara, Christina Hanson, Nick, Tim and Bill Mayrath, stepson Brice Beaird, 14 grandchildren, and 19 great-grandchildren. The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to Brookdale Preston Senior Living, where Rose lived the last 7 years of her life with loving care, comfort, and the opportunity to express her joie de vivre.
