Rose Isabel Covert's Obituary
Rose Isabel O’Hare Covert was born in Amboy, IL on June 14th, 1930, the 8th of 12 children to dairy farmers Patrick Henry O’Hare and Mary Agnes McGlynn. She married Milton Sears Covert, Jr on June 27th, 1953 and resided in Rockford, IL for several years before moving to Allentown, PA and eventually settling in Richardson, TX.
They raised six children, all girls, who were the pride and joy of their lives: Sandra Rose Covert, Linda Luellen Covert Roberson, Brenda Sue Covert Turk, Judy Anne Covert Darocy, Cindy Lee Covert Liechty, and Tammy Jo Covert. She has nine grandchildren: Ari Darocy Offer, Lear Darocy, Lexington Drake Darocy, Lauren Turk, Bergen Hashemian, Arden Hashemian, Roman Hashemain, Trent Roberson, and Bradlee Leichty. She also has six great-grandchildren: Rocco, Sophia, Kingston and Kashton Darocy, Kingston Bosley and Austin Offer.
Near the end of her life, Rose moved to Rockwall, TX, where she enjoyed remodeling and decorating her house and making it truly beautiful. Rose also enjoyed gardening and making her outside living area a true retreat for her and her dogs to enjoy. Rose was a gifted poet who penned special poems for each of her children and grandchildren and achieved a great goal in her life when her book of poems was finally published in 2020. In 2004 and 2005, Rose was presented with the Editor’s Choice Award from poetry.com and the International Library of Poetry for Outstanding Achievement in Poetry for her poem “Leaning on You”. Her faith and passion for writing was in hopes of encouraging people, giving them hope and desires that can come true if they would seek the one that makes all things possible – Jesus.
Above all else, she enjoyed family get-togethers and was famous for her turkey dressing and gravy and especially her au gratin potatoes! She was a very kind, and tender-hearted woman who loved people and serving others in whatever capacity she could. As a member of Authentic Church in Garland, TX, she served as a greeter and helped with various ministries within the church right up until the time of her death. At the age of 92, she was still vibrant and strong, loving and living life to its fullest. She survived cancer and covid and was truly a testimony of her faith. She will be greatly missed by all of us who loved her but she finished her journey with love and grace and is rejoicing in her forever home!
