Rose Marie Kunath's Obituary
Rose Marie Kunath “Rosie,” 78, of Dallas, Texas, passed away and went to be with our Heavenly Father on May 21, 2024. She was born on March 3, 1946, in El Paso, Texas to Francisco and Bertha Aliaga. Rosie married the love of her life, Hank Kunath, on December 19, 1991, in Dallas, Texas, and then spent many years in Roswell, Georgia, before returning to Dallas the past two years. Rosie attended St. Patrick’s Catholic School, El Paso High School, UTEP, and the University of North Texas.
Rosie was an incredible artist and took many trips to Oaxaca, Mexico, where she and her husband Hank taught art lessons. Rosie additionally taught art at the Roswell Visual Art Center and spent many hours at Clay West with her beloved art community. In addition to being an accomplished visual artist, Rosie was an impactful team member at the Latin American Operations at Kimberly Clark where she spoke in her native language, Spanish, and traveled the world in her role. She cherished her work family as her own and continued her strong friendships until her passing.
Rosie doted on and adored her ten grandchildren and her twin granddaughters Lily and Sofia always looked forward to summers at “Camp Mosie and Popi” among other visits, special trips, and lots of hugs.
Rosie left many gifts with others including beautiful storytelling, indelible artwork, loyal life-long friendships, and the best archival family photographs inherited from her mother. Rosie was a skilled equestrian spending hours with her beautiful horse Garvey and the opportunity to ride in several countries around the globe. Her love of animals continued throughout her life with many adorable rescue dogs including her beloved Lucky and Jessie Jane.
Rosie was preceded in life by her loving daughter Jennifer Ogden, her parents Frank and Bertha Aliaga, and brother Robert “Bobby” Aliaga. Rosie is survived by her loving husband of almost 33 years, Hank Kunath; daughter Lisa Bracken and husband Michael Bracken, and twin daughters Lily and Sofia; stepson Hank Kunath and wife Lori Kunath, and children Quinn, Austin, and Wesley; stepson Edward Kunath and wife Carrie Kunath, and children Charlie, Ben, and Paul; and stepson Paul Kunath and wife Sarah, and children Ella and Juniper.
Rosie leaves her family with unforgettable memories and will be greatly missed by all those who knew and loved her.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated in El Paso, Texas, this summer at a time to be determined at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Cemetery at the Aliaga family plot.
