Rose Simpson's Obituary
“Rose” Harvey Simpson, aged 92, a longtime resident of Dallas, Texas, passed away peacefully in her sleep on May 9, 2016. Rose, the last surviving sibling of 6 children, was born August 12, 1923 in Mineola, Texas to Florence and John Harvey. She was preceded in death by her husband, Peyton G. Simpson and her son, Jim Simpson. She is survived by her daughter, Paula Jo Simpson of Dallas, Texas, her granddaughter and great granddaughter, Emily Fowler Frame and Bella McCarroll of Trophy Club, two sisters-in-law, Shirley Bates of Quitman, Texas and Pat Jenkins of Irving, Texas, and dozens of loving nieces and nephews. Like many young women, Rose moved to Dallas from her family farm in 1941 to help with the war effort. She worked for both Higginbotham, Bailey, Logan and the Ripley Shirt Company, large government contractors supplying uniforms to the military. After the war she joined Neiman Marcus downtown where she spent seven rewarding years. She met her future husband at the State Fair of Texas in 1946 and married him one year later on October 5, 1947. Together they raised a family and founded a successful business, Pollution Control Products Co., that today is the largest manufacturer of pollution-free industrial cleaning furnaces in the world. Rose was an accomplished athlete throughout her life and an active competitor up until the age of 80, winning league championships in U.S.V.B.A. (volleyball) competitions and many individual trophies in racquetball. Family will receive friends on Monday, May 16, from 6:00PM to 8:00PM at Restland Memorial Park on Greenville Avenue. Services will be held on Tuesday, May 17 at 1:00PM. A reception will follow from 2:00PM to 4:00PM at Rose’s home at 5618 Melshire, Dallas, Texas 75230. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Restland Funeral Home and Memorial Park, 13005 Greenville Avenue, Dallas, TX 75243.
