Rose S. Smith's Obituary
Rose Stricklin Smith, 90, a long time resident of Mesquite, Texas passed away Thursday, December 20, 2018, at Avalon Memory Care, Irving Texas. Visitation will be Friday, December 28, 2018 from 2:00 – 3:00 p.m. in the Wildwood Chapel at Restland Memorial Park of Dallas, Texas. Services will be held immediately following visitation at 3:00 p.m. Pastor Pete Patton officiating. Burial will then follow at the Court of Freedom at Restland, 13005 Greenville Avenue, Dallas, Texas 75243.Mrs. Rose Smith was born December 26, 1927, the daughter of Zollie Virden Stricklin and Mary Angeline Dudley of Baird, Mississippi . She grew up in the Mississippi Delta area. She moved to Jackson, where she met Johnny Marion Smith, and after his return from the navy, they married on August 19, 1946. They began their family of four boys and moved to Dallas in 1957.She was preceded in death by her husband Johnny Smith and brother, ZV Stricklin Jr.She is survived by four sons, Jay Smith and wife Fran of St. Louis, Tim Smith and wife Debbie of Flower Mound, Mark Smith of Seattle and Alex Smith and wife Janie of Gilmer. Grandchildren include, Nathan Couch, Jeff Smith of Mesquite, Dana Smith of St. Louis, Drew Smith and wife Katie of Tulsa, Dustin Smith and wife Stephanie of St. Louis, Lauren Roberts and husband Paul of Dallas and Kevin Smith and wife Katie of Baltimore. Rose’s family included her love of six great-grandchildren and cousin Billy McAdams, nephews Stanley and Ronnie Stricklin of Jackson, and niece Phyllis Stricklin.Rose was a friend to all, a loving mother, and lived her life as a faithful servant of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
