Rose Virginia Williams' Obituary
Williams, Rose Virginia (Humphrey). Rose Williams passed away Monday, October 1, at her home in Dallas, TX, at the age of 84. Rose was born in Lafayette County, AR, on May 7, 1928. She was preceded in death by husband, Carroll D. Williams; 3 brothers; 1 sister; and 1 great-granddaughter. Survivors include brothers, Loyd and RJ; sister, Gertrude; children, Wayne Betts, Sherrin Simpson, and husband, Jim, Lynn Betts and wife, Shelly, and Patty Addington and husband, Grady; stepchildren, Robert and wife, Dorothy, and Roger and wife, Cherry; 7 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. Rose had resided in Wichita Falls and Hereford, TX, prior to moving to Dallas, where she retired from Central Transportation Systems. A long-time member of Park Cities Baptist Church, she was active in several charities, a devout student of the Bible and inspirational literature, and long-time member of several literary clubs. Husband Carroll had been a trustee and a supporter of Dallas Baptist University from 1966 until his death in 1989 and Rose continued that support. In 1999 Rose was presented with DBU’s “Ruth Award,” and from 2002-2003 she served as president of DBU’s Women’s Auxiliary Board. Her gracious spirit and loving personality will be greatly missed by her family and friends, but all are pleased that she’s in the arms of the Lord. Visitation will be from 6:00-8:00 pm on Wednesday, October 3rd at Restland Funeral Home. Services will be held at 10:00 am on Thursday, October 4th at Restland Wildwood Chapel, 13005 Greenville Avenue in Dallas.
