Rosella "Rosie" Robertha Ziegler Frank's Obituary
Rosella Robertha Ziegler Frank was born on January 30, 1924 in Summit Township, Illinois. Rosella was the last surviving of ten children of Pauline and Erwin Ziegler. When Rosella was three, the family moved to nearby Effingham, Illinois, where she grew up. Rosella attended Effingham High School where she was a member of the Homecoming Court as a junior and graduated in 1942. During WWII, she contributed to the war effort working in Granite City, Illinois, and rooming with her younger sister, Trudy. Rosella married Charles Hunter Frank, Jr. in Flora, Illinois, on May 11, 1946. The couple moved to Dallas, Texas in 1952 with their oldest daughter, Nancy. Daughters Susan and Ann were born in Texas. The family lived in Dallas and Wichita Falls before moving to Richardson in 1967, where Rosella lived until her death on December 29, 2023, one month short of her one hundredth birthday. Rosella was a member of Messiah Lutheran Church in Richardson/Plano for over 50 years and remained active into her 90s.
Rosella or ‘Rosie’ to her family and friends, was totally devoted to her family and loved spending time with them; especially hosting her grandchildren for extended visits. Her attitude was ‘the more, the merrier’. She maintained an active social life with a large circle of friends from her neighborhood and church. Rosella will be remembered for her strong faith and positive outlook. She loved to sew and do crafts and was very active in Messiah’s Ladies’ Guild. She was married to Charles for 54 years until his death in 2000. Rosella is survived by her three daughters, Nancy Frank, Susan Cox and her husband Hiram, and Ann Nace and her husband Charlie, six grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and a large extended family of nieces and nephews.
A service to celebrate Rosella’s life will be held in the Wildwood Chapel at Restland Funeral Home in Dallas, Texas, at 2 p.m. on January 12, 2024, with graveside service immediately following. The family will receive visitors at the chapel before the service from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Messiah Lutheran Church in Plano, TX through onrealm.org.
