Rosemary Gilpin's Obituary
Born June 15, 1927 in Kansas City, Mo and went to be with the Lord on July 2, 2009. Her family and friends called her Rosie and she will be forever remembered for her smile and giving heart. She is a graduate of Highland Park High School, and met her husband , Russell Gilpin, at SMU in 1947. She loved golf, tennis, gardening and dancing. She was a member of Delta Gamma Sorority, the Dallas Woman’s Club, and a past member of Las Colinas Country Club. She is preceded in death by her parents Hertha and Glenn Hooker, her sister Shirley J. Ellington, and her grandson Justin Cartwright. Rosemary is survived by her husband of 61 years Russell Gilpin, her daughter and son-in law Jeanne and Ted Cartwright and her son and daughter-in-law Jim and Gayla Gilpin. She is also survived by six grandchildren, Jimmy Vaughn, Andrea Langston, Kurt Gilpin, Matt Gilpin, Bridgett Cartwright, and Holly Preslar, and five great grandchildren. Please join Rosemary’s family in a celebration of her life at 10:00 a.m. Mon. July 6, Wildwood Chapel in Restland Memorial Park, 13005 Greenville Avenue, Dallas TX, 75243. The Reverend Bill Smith will officiate. Interment will follow at Restland Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers the family request that donations be made to Faith Presbyterian Hospice and Resources at 6100 Colwell Blvd, Ste 225, Irving, TX 75039. Visitation will be held at Restland on Sunday, July 5, 2009, from 2:00-4:00pm.
