Rosemary Schaefer's Obituary
Rosemary Schaefer, 93, of Celina Texas, passed away quietly on the morning of January 4, 2015 in Celina Texas. Rosemary led a life devoted to God and to family. Together with her beloved husband George, she raised eight children and set an example for love and devotion that can only be remembered with greatest affection by her children and their respective families. After the passing of George in 1985, Rosemary devoted herself further to those around her, family and friend alike. She served her family as only a mother would, making herself available at anytime for any purpose, especially to just be “grandma”. She adored her grandchildren and enthusiastically cared for each as often as she could. Rosemary loved her family. Upon being asked by one of her own children why she became the mother of eight, her answer was as simple as it was beautiful, replying “I just loved having you all.” Rosemary is survived by her eight children, Charles, Michael, Patricia, Mary Terese, Andrew, Jean, Joseph, and William and their spouses, Bobbi, Ellen, Steven, Alan, Alison, Eric, Heather, and Cathy, sixteen grandchildren and four great-grandchildren, all of whom live in Texas. She is also survived by her sister, Sr. Marina Gibbons of St Catharine, Kentucky, and her two brothers, Fr. John Gibbons and Thomas Gibbons of Denver, Colorado. Rosemary never wavered in teaching the importance of God to her family. Her spiritual leadership was a part of every family member’s life. She shared her devotion with all who sought her consult and left people feeling better for the encounter. Later in life she became even more active in church as a Eucharistic Minister, and made it her duty to travel and administer the sacrament of Holy Communion to those unable to attend weekly Mass. She performed with devotion for many years, only relinquishing the duty when she could no longer drive herself. Rosemary Schaefer, mother and dutiful servant of the Lord, will forever be loved and missed by her family and all who had the great pleasure of knowing her. The visitation for Rosemary will be from 6:00 to 8:00 PM on Wednesday, January 07, 2015 in The Abbey Chapel at Restland Funeral Home, with a Rosary beginning at 7:00 PM. The funeral srvice for Rosemary will be at 10:00 AM on Thursday, January 08, 2015 at St. Jude Catholic Church in Allen, Texas. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Restland Funeral Home and Memorial Park, 13005 Greenville Avenue, Dallas, TX 75238 at Restland Road.
