A veteran of two wars, he enlisted in the Navy at 17 to fight in World War II and returned to the service during the Korean War. He came home to Texas and soon founded a successful business that employed most of my family and many others. He gave jobs and opportunity of a better life to hundreds of individuals and families over the years. He and my Aunt Ruth were married over 60 years and they built a legacy of love and generosity that would be hard to match. Through the years I couldn’t tell you how many have called the Berry house a temporary home … friends and friends of friends that needed a place to stay a few weeks, sick family members needing care and coming home for hospice. They ALWAYS opened their home to those in need. This is a big loss for my family but I know he is with God and at peace. I pray for comfort for my Aunt Ruth and my cousins Barbara, Bob and Ann and their families.” The burial service will be held at The DFW National Cemetery at 1:15pm Friday February 27th, 2015. And a memorial service will be at the Berry home at 4:00pm on Saturday February 28th, 2015. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Restland Funeral Home and Memorial Park, 13005 Greenville Avenue, at Restland Road, Dallas, TX 75243.
